Let's go for the real thing!

American Indians deserve a real holiday to be observed in their honor. Attempting to make the day after Thanksgiving any form of an observance for anything is a futile effort. No one is going to take time to honor anything on Black Friday. Not Black Friday!
However the people who are working to achieve the establishment of a day for our people should be recognized and commended. They have laid the ground work for the establishment of a true holiday. The time is right.
Paul and Joyce Allen  met with U. S. Representative Dan Boren in his Muskogee office to discuss the establishment of a national holiday in honor of all American Indians, past, present, and future.
Congressman Boren agreed with our views and even made a commitment to work to create a bill to put before congress, if the NCAI will join us and endorse the establishment of the holiday.
They even discussed the abolishment of Columbus Day and making some other day the Indian holiday, if we find that congress refuses the establishment another separate holiday.
Mr. Boren sees and understands the great benefits that the holiday will bring to the Indian People, the State of Oklahoma, and the United States as a whole. He also recognizes that making the day after Thanksgiving a day to honor American Indians will have little effect.
